Yes, it’s that time of year. Time to think about all of the things that I am thankful for. And, believe me, there is an enormous list of them.
I’d like to take a few minutes to publicly thank an amazing group of people who have worked tirelessly on projects for no money and no recognition. Yes, you read that right. No money. No recognition. “Who on earth would do that?” you ask.
My unbelievably generous team of editors who support our work for Translators Without Borders.
Let me start with the woman who actually makes our projects hum. Her name is Gaela Schlak and she is the best darned assistant in the whole world. So good, in fact, that she is no longer my assistant! She has been promoted at Content Rules and has even more responsibility now.
Gaela organizes and manages all of our TWB projects. She single-handedly juggles many at once, managing editors spread out all over the globe. And she doesn’t miss a beat. So, publicly, on behalf of Translators Without Borders and the many, many people who we are helping: Thank You Gaela.
I also want to take a moment to publicly thank each and every editor who has worked on a TWB project with us this year. We have worked on many projects, including the 80 x 80 Wikipedia project, the “Health, Education, and Training for Africa” project, the Kenya Health Brochure project, among others. These editors work nights and weekends, making the English content so much simpler and easier to read for people all over the world. Their edited content also goes to the TWB Translation Centre, where it is translated into many languages by an equally amazing team of volunteer translators.
Here is the list of editors who gave their time so generously in 2012:
- Amy Guzules
- Barbara Mulligan
- Becky Condit
- Caroline Margozzi
- Cheryl Voloshin
- Christina Cary
- Christina Tolliver
- Dan McMinn
- Debra Rubin
- Elizabeth Finch
- Felicity O’Meara
- James Longbotham
- Jan Richardson
- Jill Angel
- Julie Knoeller
- Kayce Monagle
- Lisa Pere
- Marguerite Paolino
- Nicole Acrey
- Shirley Dekker Boulay
Other participating employees of Content Rules include:
- Andrew Davis
- Greg Swisher
- John Faraola
- Kelli Lawless
- Tim Steele
I’d also like to acknowledge and thank Andrew Bredenkamp, the President of Acrolinx, GmbH. Acrolinx has generously donated their software and technical assistance for my editing team to use.
Thanks again to everyone for their countless hours of dedication. We are making a difference in the world!
