Mercury is in retrograde. Okay. Go ahead. Laugh at me. Say, “Val, you are the CEO of a multi-million dollar company and you believe in that astrology stuff?” Well, let me say this: Mercury is in retrograde. And I would know it even if I couldn’t look it up on Google.
To be technical, here is the definition of Mercury in retrograde from www.astrology.com :
“A planet is described as retrograde when it appears to be moving backwards through the zodiac. According to modern science, this traditional concept arises in the illusory planetary motion created by the orbital rotation of the earth with relation to other planets in our solar system. It’s a bit like travelling on the road watching another car beside you: when the other car slows down, or you speed up, it looks as though the other car is moving backwards. Planets are never actually retrograde or stationary, they just seem that way due to this cosmic shadow-play.”
Just by reading this definition, you’d never know the complete and utter havoc that is wreaked when Mercury is in retrograde. During these crazy periods of time, all communication seems to cease. Or if it doesn’t cease, it is…well…very trying. When Mercury is in retrograde, conversations don’t go well. People don’t communicate with each other clearly. Expected purchase orders get lost. Checks don’t arrive. Bad things happen.
Even my computers stop working right – or at least I stop being able to use them correctly. Let’s just take this post, for example. I couldn’t for the life of me remember what my password was to the editing function in WordPress. I’ve used it dozens of times. But, everything I typed didn’t work. And when I clicked “Forgot my password,” WordPress said it sent my password to my email address. But I never got the email.
But, don’t take my word for it. Here is an excerpt from the San Francisco Examiner:
“Mercury, the planet of communication, turns retrograde in Taurus on April 18, 2010. Usually Mercury retrograde means communication delays and mishaps. We need to prepare for glitches with computers, electronics, emails, files, and friends and business associates not responding promptly. There are often delays in getting contracts or agreements signed. It is a time to practice patience.”
So when nothing works right for the next 3 weeks, and you keep having disagreements with your coworkers, and things at home are not flowing smoothly…remember, you heard it hear first.
